Located within the Society Islands in French Polynesia is an incredibly isolated island that welcomes passionate travelers each year. Made from the remains of a historic volcanic eruption, the region is surrounded by the bluest water lagoon today. August is the perfect month to go and soak some rays on its beaches and enjoy romance in its luxury resorts.
Can I park my aircraft in Bora Bora?
It is possible to fly a private jet directly to the Leeward Islands. The operating hours of the Motu Mute Airport are limited to 1800 to 0430 UTC giving a window of only ten and a half hours for private jet landings and takeoffs. On the ground, fuel is not available as widely as expected. Additionally, parking the aircraft in Motu Mute is challenging due to its restricted capacity. Applications for parking at the airfield should ideally be sent out a month before to avoid allotment issues on the preferred arrival date.
Customs can be requested 15 days before the planned itinerary. However, it is up to the authorities to approve. Filing for their consent takes about 3500 USD which may soar anytime. Alternately, landing at Faa’a International Airport can avoid the high customs and immigration costs. It is a 45-minute flight away from the tiny islet. Once the authorities process approval for landing permits, the schedule is almost irreversible.
